Periodic Condition Monitoring

Periodic Condition Monitoring

Periodic Condition Monitoring is an important part of your Predictive Maintenance (PdM) program.  It incorporates industry standard vibration measurements over time to assess machinery health on an ongoing basis.  Some readings show current condition more clearly and some are predictive in that they show early signs of mechanical deterioration.  Our technician also records visual and audible data to add to his analysis. All this data together reveals conditions such as bearing defects and level of wear, imbalance, shaft misalignment, gear wear, possible motor rotor damage, drive belt wear, coupling defects/inaccuracies, resonance, and possible structural issues.

When surveys are performed on a periodic basis (e.g., quarterly, monthly, annually), trending for significant change becomes the indicator which triggers concern. These concerns are used to produce recommendations for corrective action which is performed to minimize the risk of further damage.

Raynesford Balancing offers a variety of implementation options to minimize the burden on your plant or building while optimizing the effectiveness of our part in your Predictive Maintenance program.

Benefits of Condition Monitoring

  • Be Proactive

…find problems before they find you

  • Stop Guesswork

…be sure of problem before taking action

  • Efficient Planning

…base your maintenance on real data

  • Cheap Insurance

…one unexpected failure will probably cost more than our service

  • Reduce Funding

…repair only what is needed

  • Increase Longevity

…confine wear to easily repairable parts

  • Accurate Diagnosis

…based on data taken, published research, and experience

  • Written Reports

…explaining findings in language you can understand, with helpful recommendations

On-Site Balancing

Unbalance is often the source of excess vibration in rotating equipment. Out-of-spec vibration will shorten the life of your bearings and fatigue other components. Dynamic balancing in the field can remove this potential damage.

Vibration Analysis

This is one of the tools used in Root Cause Analysis, using the vibration signaure of your equipment to diagnose problems and recommend solutions.

Periodic Condition Monitoring

Vibration surveys show the current and future condition of your equipment to provide a heads-up for preventative maintenenace planning.
